Why am I so evil...

As a followup to my last post and in an effort to be 'fair and balanced' I thought I might share some more on exactly what the Philosophy of Satan is that I have in the Marrow of my bones - Still just loving that phrase...

So another blogger wrote something up on Gay Marriage and compared it to Abortion and how it would continue to be detrimental to children. I am not a fan of abortion, but recognize that it's not my decision to make, and that others don't necessarily see it the same way. There are times when I think it is a good option, and other grey areas, but ultimately it comes down to freedom and the fact that I am not going to impose my view of the world on others, especially since I wouldn't want them imposing theirs on me.

Anyway, my comment on the blog was that while I feel that the promotion of abortion amongst certain sectors of the population would seem to have caused a decrease in responsibility and thus other problems too, I thought that Gay Marriage would have the opposite effect, since it would be adding responsibility to civilization and I thought that while it may possibly have some negative effects, the overall effect would be positive. The author himself disagreed, but was respectful in his response and was willing to admit that both he and I had valid points. Which I think we did.

Enter Mr. Anonymous. Mr. Anonymous starts off by saying homosexuality is a perversion and needs to be irradicated before it infects our culture and destroys us. From what I have been able to learn of Mr. Anonymous (Although he tries to be secretive), he would appear to be a Mormon Fundamentalist, similar to Warren Jeffs - Prophet of the FLDS Church, and also polygamist, pedophile and all round scum bag. Mr. Jeff's not Mr. Anonymous. I have nothing against their religion or their right to practice polygamy, and I would willing defend it, but I do have a problem with the history of their practices and the fact that more often than not their version of polygamy involves incest and/or very young girls. But that's a different topic.

My response to Mr. Anonymous's strong reasoning that homosexual marriage was an evil practice, immoral and basically a perversion, was that based on Islamic law, many of us are committing immoral and perverse practices. Morality is a personal issue and should be kept that way, not imposed on others. It is this that he latched on to, and refers to as relativism and the Philosophy of Satan.

Among his arguments where included references to my wife walking around with her breasts exposed, and show her genitalia to strange men before having sex with them, justifying polygamy by saying many animals engage in it, and a host of other nonsensical arguments. He firmly believed that polygamy was ordained of God and kept saying that if he were to bring God into the argument that I would not stand more than a second. My subsequent pointing out that apparently he and I worship a very different God was also highly offensive to him, as was my asking if he would prefer a society where everyone was forced to choose right.

That last comment is in reference to a plan that Mormons believed Satan presented at a grand counsel in heaven prior to the creation of the earth, in opposition to God and Christs plans that we should be given freedom and the opportunity to learn on the earth, Satan presented a plan that involved the coersion of men to do right, and the removal of freedom to choose. He responded that he was not Satan, and that he favored a society were people could choose to do right, but if they didn't they would be cast out. Please let me know if anyone see's any real difference between that plan and the one I asked if he wanted.

It came down to me giving him a lesson on the history of his religion that apparently he was not willing to accept. At this point, he declared me unintelligent, not worth his time, and then the phrase I have grown to love over the past weekend... "You have the philosophy of Satan in the Marrow of your bones. Good Day".

There are reasonable and rational people on both sides of this issue, but unfortunately the ones that claim to respresent Christ are the most hateful, ignorant and biggoted people I have ever had the misfortune of associating with - although I have met a number of white supremicist types whose views I have found equally disgusting and intolerant of others.

I made a reference in my final response to Mr. Anonymous to the case where Christ came upon a woman who had been accused of adultery. In the story, he asks that whomever is without sin to cast the first stone. Ironically all the accusers leave, and Christ, who was actually without sin, tells the woman to leave and sin no more. I asked Mr Anonymous which part he would have played in that drama. Ironically he, like the Pharisees, has dissapeared. Hmmmmmm......

  1. You just can't win with black-and-white thinkers, because all their logic is circular -- anything that questions their frame of reference is by definition evil...

  2. I've come to realize that. He's gone from demonizing any polygamist who takes a 14 year old bride to defending it and claiming his faith in the "doctrine" has been strengthened when I pointed out that the guy who started the whole thing married two 14 year old girls. Sicko!

It's funny how those who seek to control the behavior of others very often are guilty of equally or more disgusting behavior themselves.

I'm taking the Scott Adams approach of just messing with him when he approachs me with additional arguments about why I'm wrong. I think the phrase Scott uses is "Dance Monkey, Dance".
