Calmly alive and thriving

I just put up a post on Being the Urban Koda attempting to explain the lame bloggage of late.

In other news though...

This morning we had our second organized CALM meeting. Last month we had 12 adults and a handful of kids show up to our home for an informal meet and greet. I thought it went well.

This month we decided to focus on the Community part of CALM (Community After Leaving Mormonism). It's nice to help people fell comfortable about leaving, but I'm getting a little sick of dwelling on leaving Mormonism. I'm looking forward to learning how to be normal and developing friendships with normal people. (No offense intended to any active Mormons who read this blog, but in all honesty, if you can actually stand reading my opinions, you're probably pretty normal in my book too.)

ANYWAY!

So this morning we had arranged a bowling activity.

The weather was terrible, and although we left almost 20 minutes early, we arrived almost at the starting time after skating along the I-15 corridor in our van. I swear there was at least 2 inches of solid ice on the freeway surface.

It took a while to get going, since it appeared today was everyones day to go bowling, and the supposedly quiet alley was packed to the gills.

We managed to get everyone in, and ended up having a great morning socializing and knocking over pins.

The final head count was 36 - a few more than expected, but the more the merrier!

  1. I'm glad you're doing that for others. I hope you find some normal friends. LOL! I think I have always had normal friends because I never felt that I could be my real self around Mormons, so in that way I think I was blessed. (Oh, another reason was because I grew up in an area where there were hardly any Mormons...forgot that tidbit).
