Utah has a pretty big problem with pornography, which is interesting, since the LDS Church, the dominant religion in Utah is vehemently opposed to it's use.
I suspect part of the reason Utah may have such a large problem with this, is that those who view it, experience not only the rush of chemicals associated with the viewing of sensual images, but also a rush of endorphins and adrenaline from doing something wrong. It's almost as though porn is a marijuana joint and membership in a church which prohibits it, is like lacing it with crack cocaine.
I have another theory as well...
Mormons are constantly told to avoid pornography. Porn is evil, Porn will suck you in, Porn will destroy your life, Porn is of the devil, Porn is this, Porn is that, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn.
I ask you dear reader - what are you thinking about right now?

ReplyDeleteI actually think your first theory is more likely. In general, sex is naughty to those who are very religious. Naughtiness, of course, only makes sex more appealing and fun. Unfortunately, naughtiness also makes things that really can be bad for you (or others) more appealing for some.
But your second point has merit, as well. Of course, you wrote this post. What were you thinking about?? ;)
