I got some pain in my foot last year during a relay race in Southern Utah... It went away after a while, but it returned again during the same race this year.
I thought it may have originated when I jumped of the ski lift at the start and landed funny.
Then I thought it may have been related to my shoes... Actually I think this may still be the case... I have some trail running shoes, which I love, but they might be the cause... And I wore them all day on Saturday.
In fact perhaps that is the reason... I really hope that is the reason.
Because the other possibility is...
I may have a stress fracture in my foot.
And I have a half ironman race in 2 weeks...
And I really want to do it!
I could go to the doctor and find out for sure... I have a really great sports medicine doctor which I discovered last year. He's a runner too, so he understands my addiction.
But if I go and see him, and he confirms that it is a stress fracture, then he'll tell me not to run... But I really want to.
Arrrrrgh!!!
Oh man! I did that once -- got the stress fracture but I didn't have an ironman race coming up. It just messed up my cardio workout schedule. That's when I got into spinning and it was one of the best things I ever did -- bumped up my endurance in a big way. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cog Dissenter!
ReplyDeleteI tried a short, slow run last night, and it actually felt OK... I really need to focus on my biking, since it's been a couple of months since I had a good, solid long ride, but I think the short, slow runs will work for now.
