I'm still working on the second part to my Tuesday post, the one about teaching my kids.
I just wanted to draw your attention to something rather significant, and extend to you an invitation...
I started blogging about 5 years ago - maybe 4... My original blog was Being the Urban Koda. It's fun to go back sometimes and see how my views about life, religion and politics have changed over the last few years.
Anyway, so I was posting something a day or 2 back, and realized that my next post on that blog will be post number 500!!!
That's a freaking huge number of posts!!
Anyway, so to celebrate I've arranged a little soiree for my readers, just a way of saying thank-you and perhaps even getting to know a few more face to face.
Depending on where you live... Well, actually your location doesn't so much affect the invitation, as it does your ability to attend!
Anyway, you are hereby cordially invited to an open house/party at the Koda residence on Sunday. Officially we're going to run it from 5pm to 7pm, but since pickings are slim, you're welcome to come over earlier in the afternoon and even a little later into the evening.
I ordered the cake last night... In hindsight, Mrs Koda should have come with me. I got the Banana Nut cake, with the cream cheese filling and cream cheese frosting, and then the young lady was asking about decorations and writing and stuff and I turned into a blithering idiot.
It'll be a miracle if it ends up looking even half as good as it'll taste. I told her balloons, red, black and blue as the color scheme and then something about "The Koda 500" on it.
Let me know if you want to and are able to come... I hate to admit this, but I am getting kinda desperate!
I think I left it too late, didn't plan as well before issuing the invites, and it clashes with Mormon conference a little, which translates to lots of family get together on Sunday afternoon.
At the very least, another friend is re-roofing their house, and so if no-one shows by 6, I may take the cake over to their house and see if their laborers want any.
There was also an allusion made that her husband might be willing to pay for labor in beer, so I may have to take over a hammer as well!!
Speaking of beer...
I haven't attended Mormon Conference in 5 or 6 years. It's been kinda nice.
That streak however will be broken tonight, when I don suit and tie, blow the dust off my scriptures and head to our stake center armed with a notepad and pen...
If all goes according to plan, I'll be jumping on a conference call shortly after the priesthood session, which will be produced into the Mormon Expression Priesthood Session Wrap-up pod cast.
My computer is all set up, I'm enthusiastic and hopefully it'll go well. My only fears are speaking too fast, or mumbling, and then there is the whole accent thing, which apparently gets really thick when I'm nervous...
I haven't done any public type performances since the light-bulb incident, so I'm hoping that I don't have any flashbacks!!
How does that all tie into beer... I toyed with the idea of getting loaded before I head over to the church... obviously then I'd have to walk, but it might make the whole thing a little more enjoyable!!
I probably won't, but it was a fun thought... No?
Alrighty then, time to take on the day, and finish this post with a final plea...
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE COME TO MY PARTY TOMORROW!!!!
DUDE! I totally would.
ReplyDeleteBut I don't think you live anywhere near close to me.
Congrats!! :D
I would if you were not sooo far away! Good luck with the party though and congrats on 500 posts!
ReplyDeleteI'll be there in "spirit".
ReplyDeleteI will be there for sure and I hope the cake lives up to the hype:)
ReplyDeleteMan... I responded Kiley and Lisa earlier, but it seems my comment got lost in cyberspace.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! I wish you could be here too.
TGD... I'm sure your spirit will have a blast.
TGW... I hope it lives up to the hype, now you've got me worried that I've over sold it.
It's the first time we've tried the cream cheese filling, and it does smell incredible, so hopefully all will be good!
I'm just kidding you. I'm sure it will be delicious! :)
ReplyDelete500! that's huge... enjoy the cake and company, I'm just happy knowing that you lot are able to meet up and support each other. Hugs :)
ReplyDeleteKoda, I would have LOVED to come to your party! I would have snuck in a flask, drank too much and sang some re-mixed primary songs at everyone's displeasure. Probably better that I'm in NYC. And anyway, I have a feeling that I would burst into flames as soon as the plane touched Utah soil. Have a great party and 500 giant congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteArgh, I'm sad I can't make it! Just got back from a couple days in Park City (with no internet! gasp!) and madly trying to finish my work before tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteI hope there will be more reunions in the future! :) Congrats on 500, I'm a fan!
Thanks Maureen!
ReplyDeleteSister Secret... No need to sneak a flask in, and I for one would have been greatly entertained by a couple of remixed primary songs... But that said, the potential of spontaneous combustion is a little risky. Perhaps I'll have to do the 1000 post party in NYC (Or Down Under for Maureen!)
SimplySarah... Definitely! And thanks.
If you live in a certain Mormon stronghold state, the party is 2,000 miles out of my way, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time today! I know the party will be a blast!
Thanks Ahab, it was fun, and yes, I live in Mormon Central... I fully suspect if I didn't I'd still be 100% active, funny that!
